Session 4 - From Risk to Resilience: How Governance Unlocks AI’s Potential in Schools

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping schools, but without strong governance, it risks creating fragmented systems, unmanaged risks, and staff uncertainty. This session will explore why governance is the foundation of successful AI adoption and management in schools, and why ICT managers are central to getting it right. Using the DecisionLine Generative AI Governance & Management Framework for Schools, we will examine practical approaches to AI readiness, risk mitigation, policy development, procurement, and change management. The focus will be on enabling innovation while safeguarding students, staff, and data. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how ICT leaders can drive the AI governance discussion in their schools. In doing so they can help establish the guardrails for safe, effective, and sustainable AI adoption and continuous improvement, ensuring AI delivers real value across the school community.

Session 3 - Clarity from Complexity: Managing Records in Today’s Schools

Schools face a growing challenge in managing the volume of student, staff, and administrative records while meeting strict compliance requirements. From legal retention schedules and Royal Commission findings to the practical frustrations of paper, lost files, and fragmented digital storage, the risks are real and the stakes are high.

This session explores the journey of modern document management for schools. David Harrison will unpack the common challenges schools face, why records management is critical for compliance and student duty of care, and how simple, practical steps can transform the way information is stored, accessed, and secured.

Through real case studies drawn from schools across Australia, delegates will gain insights into developing a clear digital strategy, the importance of retention and disposal schedules, and the role of enterprise content management systems in safeguarding records for the long term. The session will leave participants with practical ideas they can apply immediately, helping schools turn document chaos into clarity.
