Brenton Harty (Vic.) - President


Brenton Harty is the Director of ICT and Privacy Officer at Presbyterian Ladies’ College. He has worked for 40 years in Education and ICT, although he is younger than he first appears. Brenton has worked as a Teacher, eLearning Manager, ICT manager, and Senior Digital Transformation leader in the Victorian Education Department and several independent schools. He has also worked as the National Operations Manager for an EdTech division of the Copyright Agency. 

His fundamental interests are in achieving the maximum potential from ICT across all aspects of Teaching and Learning and school operations. He has presented at the state and national levels on ICT Governance and, particularly, ICT Strategy. He has provided ICT Governance consultancy to several Victoria and New South Wales independent schools.

He holds a Master of Business ICT and is a recipient of the Vice Chancellors Award for Academic Excellence in 2015. He is also disarmingly humble.

Fred Shu (NSW) - Vice President

Fred is currently serving as the Head of Information Technology at William Clarke College located in Kellyville in Sydney’s North-West, where he oversees the technological infrastructure and operations to support the College’s desire to develop extraordinary learners.

Previously Fred worked at Barker College, Sydney Grammar School, Pymble Ladies’ College and most recently, Roseville College, where he specialised in database systems and IT management.

Driven by a passion for teamwork, Fred fosters a culture of unity and enjoyment in the workplace, while upholding professionalism and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in the educational IT sector.

Fred and his wife Becky, who serves as a School Chaplain, has three children. And when not spending time with his family, Fred enjoys going for rides on his Harley Davidson."

Michael Smith (NSW) - Secretary

With over 15 years of pioneering leadership in the education technology sector, Michael Smith stands at the forefront of digital transformation and innovation. Currently serving as the Director of ICT at Wenona School, Michael has demonstrated exceptional skill in spearheading complex digital initiatives, building high-performing teams, and fostering strong, lasting partnerships across the educational landscape.

Beyond his professional commitments, Michael actively contributes to the community through his role as Secretary for Mitie Inc., where he represents over 3,000 members, and his volunteer work at St. Matthews Anglican Church. His dedication to fostering meaningful relationships and leveraging technology to meet the changing needs of education defines his approach to leadership and innovation.

Daniel Wilkin (SA) - Member


With over 28 years of experience in the IT sector, having roles of Infrastructure Analyst and Vendor Manager within EDS and HP. My journey in these organizations has equipped me with a robust foundation in IT operations, project management, and strategic planning. In 2011, I embraced the opportunity to lead as the IT Manager at Cedar College. During my tenure, I have spearheaded numerous technology initiatives, significantly improving our IT infrastructure and support systems. My commitment to innovation and excellence has been instrumental in driving the digital transformation at Cedar College, ensuring we stay at the forefront of educational technology.

Outside of work I indulge in being a foodie and an amateur gardener / landscaper.

Mike Parker (NSW) - Member

Mike Parker has worked in IT since 2000 (yes the .com age!) and has worked directly for five independent schools. He is originally from the USA. He has BA in Creative Writing, a Masters in IT Leadership. He is the founder of Parker IT, a company designed to support schools around larger IT projects. He is a former US Marine Reservist and an M1A1 tank driver. He worked at the NASA Ames Research Centre as a Senior Systems administrator. He likes dogs, a stable internet connection, Hawaiian shirts and the MK-19, a belt fed grenade launcher.

Mike has been a familiar face in the MITIE community since 2008, served in a few committee roles and has attended nearly ever AIS IT Managers conference since.

David Nichols (NSW) - Member


ICT Operations Manager at Central Coast Grammar, specialising in IT Management, Education Technology, Infrastructure Management, Customer Service and an advocate for classroom first approach. David has served as a member of the Steering committee on a number of occasions.
